Planning The Garden

WOW!  I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!
Last year we tried our hand at a different type of garden - the raised cedar beds.  Although we got a really late start, we did have a good yield!  We tried new herbs and cucumbers for the first time ever.  Honestly, I can't believe I was afraid to try cucumbers before.  I love Cory's attitude - just throw in the seeds and see what happens!  Brilliant!!!

So this year, we are planning a much larger garden (hence the fear).  I'm trying to read books, magazines, websites.  A few weeks ago, I went out and measured the area we plan to till up along with our boxes.  We have 853 sq feet of land.  Less than a 1/10 of an acre.  LOL  Oh well, start small right?  But let me tell you that section of land seems pretty big to me when I think of tilling, mulching, manuring, planting, tending and caring of it!  I mean it's almost the size of my first apartment.

So I started to breath and Cory and I just sat down and decided what some of the basic things are that we like to eat that we can grow.  Then we tossed in some of the, "Oh that might be good" items.  Our list is an entire page long - 24 items Plus a citrus lemon tree.

So I know our area, I know what we want to grow - now the question is, can we fit everything we want to grow into the 853 square feet of space we have?

Not even I know the answer to that yet - stay tuned.....
