Welcome!

Welcome to our HopeFULL Homestead!
We are just starting this homestead and are FULL of Hope that it will grow and be bountiful!

We have always grown tomatoes in our yard, but then we tried our hand at cilantro and jalepeno peppers.  This year, early summer,  my husband thought about raised garden beds.  He did some research and decided he could build them himself out of cedar.  So, he and our son built some awesome beds!

We put in some green peppers and basil.

Then we added more boxes and some tomatoes and cucumbers and a variety of mint.

We planted chocolate mint along the railroad tie raised patio area.
It smells delicious and grows like crazy!

I have so much basil, I don't even know what to do with it!  Our tomatoes are no where ready to be picked and paired up with basil and mozzarella!

I am so excited about this little guy.  We all love cucumbers, but have never attempted to grow them before.  Seeing as this was quite the experimental year and we were getting a late start, we decided to plant cucumbers.  Today I saw the first yellow bright bloom!

Speaking of tomatoes, I'm not sure if these are finally starting to turn or if they're sunburnt.  I hope they're just starting to turn because I am ready to salt me some 'maters!

Our orange mint smells divine, too!  And boy does it grow easily!  I'm thinking we'll be sipping orange mint green tea in the evenings!  The basil is in the top corner of this pix, and then our so far pathetic little peppers next to it.

I did 2 peppers off the plants the other day though...

We are trying new things, different things, reading anything we can get our hands on and planning for a fuller garden next year with more boxes and more variety of fruits/veggies/herbs.
